The Daily Dose Cafe, located in downtown in the Arts District, is a coffee shop and cafe serving up artisanal coffee and soul-satisfying food, made with natural ingredients sourced from local farmers, ranchers and fisheries. A brick path with ivy-lined walls and mismatched tables has been a welcome home to the neighborhood’s creative types, who flock to the alley cafe. The food menu is full of tongue-in-cheek dish names, like The Ballerina, a duck egg fried in olive oil on ciabatta with butter and apricot jam. Opt for fun drink options like Disco lemonade (Meyer lemonade with agave-marinated cherries) and the Bang Bang (gunpowder green tea with honey-ginger syrup), or go for one of their classic coffees to enjoy outside.
Situated between two large industrial buildings, the cafe feels like a secret find (my fave thing) and has a quaint and cosy feel. Founded by a real estate developer named Sarkis Vartanian, who became inspired to establish an “honest food” eatery after receiving a reality check from his doctor. Sarkis had been living on a fast food diet most of the time, and, when his doctor informed him that his unhealthy ways were taking a toll on his physical well-being, decided to make a major life change. What better way to do so than by setting up his own organic restaurant? Vartanian soon quit his real estate job and, along with partner/executive chef Christian Page, opened the Daily Dose Café in August 2011.
Serving colorful food from local and certified organic vendors The Alley at Daily Dose Cafe is a wonderful space to catch up with friends over breakfast or lunch and even dance under the evening lights in style. Big love for this little find.
